I’ve been burdened today for those for whom today is not a happy Father’s Day. I’m blessed with a good father, but I have sat through many counseling sessions to learn how to deal with my damaged heart that needed to forgive some other significant people in my life. I knew forgiveness was the key, but I never could figure out how to get to that point ~ until I became willing. In my experience willingness was the first key to my healing. I had to pray for willingness. I prayed that God would make me willing to forgive. Once I was willing to forgive, I was able to extend forgiveness.
Forgiving someone doesn’t mean that you are excusing wrong behavior. Rather, it releases YOU to a place of freedom. That person, that bitterness, those resentments no longer have a hold on you. You are free. Pray for willingness, dear one. Take the first step on the road to freedom today. I am praying for you.
With lots of love,
Kay
